Seen from Glenridding, Catstycam is a neat pointed pyramid, and its tiny summit carries a small cairn. It's joined to Helvellyn by Swirral Edge, a narrow, curving ridge that's the quieter northern twin of Striding Edge. Red Tarn sits in the hollow below, and in the 1800s it was dammed to feed water to the Greenside lead mine in Glenridding.
