Caudale Moor is a broad, grassy plateau above Kirkstone Pass, scattered with small tarns, walls and cairns, and its highest point, Stony Cove Pike, is a rock just west of Wainwright's cairn. To the south-west stands a cairn and cross for Mark Atkinson, landlord of the Kirkstone Pass Inn, who died in 1930, with a second plaque for his son. The fell is also called John Bell's Banner, and Caudale Quarry is hollowed out of its north-west ridge.
