Middle Dodd is really the northern ridge of Red Screes above Kirkstone Pass, but seen from Hartsop it looks like a pyramid in its own right. It takes its name from being the middle of three Dodds in the valley, alongside Hartsop Dodd and High Hartsop Dodd. A grassy crest leads to a cairn and a trench nobody can quite explain, and the slopes below hide old lead and copper trial levels.
