Great Crag has two rocky tops of almost the same height, each with a cairn, rising above the oak woods of Borrowdale near Stonethwaite. Rough heather covers the upper slopes, and Dock Tarn lies about half a kilometre to the south-east, a natural stop on the way up. The view isn't wide, but it looks well down into Borrowdale with the high fells behind.
