Hart Side is a grassy, rounded fell north-east of the Helvellyn range, its top scattered with boulders and a couple of small cairns. A long trench just south of the summit was probably dug by prospectors, and the Greenside lead vein, mined from Glenridding until 1962, runs beneath the fell. The name means the slope where harts, or stags, roamed, and some older guidebooks called it Glen Coin Fell.
