Lank Rigg is a quiet, grassy fell at the far south-western edge of the Lakeland hills, with an Ordnance Survey trig pillar and an ancient tumulus near the top. Wainwright hid a two-shilling coin under a stone on the summit when he finished his Pictorial Guides, and walkers still leave coins here in his memory. The view over the coastal plain is good, and there's an unexpected glimpse of Blencathra far to the north-east.
