Seatallan is a big, grassy hill west of Wasdale, with an Ordnance Survey trig pillar next to a large prehistoric burial cairn on the top. The highest ground is actually a short way north-east of the trig point and has no marker. The name is thought to be Cumbric, meaning something like 'Aleyn's high pasture'. Its most striking ground is Buckbarrow, a crag wall on the southern edge, and the view takes in the Scafells and the Coniston Fells.
