Crag Fell rears up from the southern shore of Ennerdale Water, its northern face dropping in crags to Anglers Crag, also known as Robin Hood's Chair, and the broken rock spine of the Crag Fell Pinnacles. Miners drove small trial levels into the slopes looking for haematite iron ore, but never found enough, and all had closed by 1896. The rounded top is grassy, with a cairn marking the highest point.
