Little Hart Crag has two rocky tops about 100 m apart: the western one is higher and carries the cairn, while the eastern one is shapelier, with quartzite set into its rock. Bigger fells crowd the view, but you get a close look at the cliffs of Dove Crag and Red Screes. The grassy eastern slopes fall to Scandale Pass and little Scandale Tarn, while the north side drops in crags into Dovedale.
