Rest Dodd is a rounded grassy dome between Hayeswater and the Martindale deer forest, and its highest point is a grass mound with two lower cairns close by. The eastern side drops in long fans of coloured scree towards Ramps Gill, while the way north to The Nab crosses deep peat hags. From the summit you get a full view of the Helvellyn range.
