Thunacar Knott is the grassy rise behind the Langdale Pikes, where their crags give way to a high moorland plateau. It has two tops: the southern one is the highest point, while a large cairn on a mound to the north is the one Wainwright treated as the summit. Wainwright also called it completely unphotogenic, but there's a small tarn on top and a fine view west.
