Loft Crag is the smallest and most forward of the three Langdale Pikes, a sharp little top with a small cairn on a rocky outcrop. Because it sticks out further over the valley than its neighbours, it gives a fuller view down Great Langdale. Just below the summit is Gimmer Crag, one of the best-known rock climbing crags in the Lake District, and the southern slopes fall over crags almost all the way to the valley floor.
