Carl Side is a grassy shoulder on the south-west side of Skiddaw, topped by a loose pile of rocks. In the col just below it lies Carlside Tarn, the only pool of water at any height in the Skiddaw group, and it's so shallow it often dries out in summer. The view south runs straight down Derwentwater, and a striking patch of white stones marks the southern spur lower down.
