Long Side sits in the middle of Skiddaw's north-west ridge, with a cairn on its unnamed top. Strictly, the name belongs to the long slope below, which runs down to the conifers of Longside Wood and Bassenthwaite Lake. A path runs along the rim of Longside Edge to Ullock Pike, with broken crags falling into quiet Southerndale on one side and a fine view of Bassenthwaite Lake on the other.
