High Seat is the high point of a wet, peaty ridge in the Central Fells, and its trig pillar stands on a small rock platform, with the highest rock just beside it. With no higher neighbours, the view runs the full length of the Helvellyn range and across to a skyline of high fells from Crinkle Crags to Blencathra. On a saddle below the ridge, two upright stones remember John Litt, who went missing while following the Blencathra Foxhounds in March 1880.
