Mungrisdale Common is a wide, wet plateau on the edge of Skiddaw Forest, so flat that its highest point has no feature at all, just tufts of bent and cotton-grass. Wainwright called it his least favourite fell and was famously rude about its shape, and oddly it lies miles from Mungrisdale village. Its one good view is a gap to the south-west framing a line of high fells from Pillar to Crinkle Crags.
