Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England, and its top is a sea of shattered boulders with a trig point and a big stone cairn over the highest ground. Lord Leconfield gave the summit to the National Trust in 1919 in memory of the Lake District men killed in the First World War. On a clear day you can see from the Mourne Mountains in Northern Ireland to Snowdonia in Wales.
