Sergeant's Crag is a rocky knuckle on the ridge running down from High Raise, with its cairn on a rock platform partly ringed by an old stone wall. Its main face drops steeply into Langstrath, split by a gully, and the slabs low on that face are where most of the rock climbing is. Looking up Langstrath you see Bowfell and Esk Pike, and the ridge carries on north to end at Eagle Crag.
