Strictly, Tarn Crag is the rock face above Easedale Tarn, but Wainwright gave the name to the whole ridge between Easedale and Far Easedale. Its cairn sits on a peaked outcrop, though the highest ground is a slightly higher knoll a little to the west-north-west. East of the top the ridge is narrow and knobbly, while the west side curls round shallow Codale Tarn. Below the south face lies Easedale Tarn, deep enough to hold perch, eels and trout.
