Silver How sits right above Grasmere village, and its cairned top gives a fine view of the lake with the Fairfield Horseshoe behind; the Langdale Pikes and Coniston Fells show well too. The 'How' in its name comes from the Old Norse haugr, a hill or mound. Paths criss-cross the fell, which can make finding your way confusing.
