Yoke is the southern end of the Kentmere Horseshoe ridge, a grassy top with a small cairn on a rocky outcrop. Its name is thought to come from the Old English geoc, meaning a ridge. The fell's best feature is on the Kentmere side, where Rainsborrow Crag drops about 300 metres to the valley, and from the top you look south over Windermere towards Morecambe Bay.
