Mardale Ill Bell is the high point of High Street's south-east ridge, with two big cairns on grass and the northern one marking the top. Its craggy north-east face forms the backdrop to Blea Water, the deepest tarn in the Lake District at 63 m. Small Water sits in the next corrie, and by the path climbing from it to Nan Bield Pass are little stone shelters you have to crawl into.
